Introducing Jira Planner

This post introduces Jira Planner, a new capability within the Atlassian Rovo MCP Server platform. Jira Planner focuses on transforming rough ideas into structured, agent-ready specifications. It achieves this by asking clarifying questions to define scope, constraints, and success criteria. It grounds plans in the user's real context by reading code across multi-repo setups and pulling in context from Teamwork Graph, reflecting architecture, ownership, and previous decisions. The output is editable Confluence Live Docs, facilitating team co-editing and inline comments. Jira Planner also surfaces ambiguity and provides suggestions for missing details to ensure specs are ready for execution. Finally, it breaks down finalized plans into Jira work items, sequenced with dependencies and milestones, enabling agent orchestration.
