A Very WebP New Year from Cloudflare

Introduced WebP conversion as an option within the Polish image optimization feature. This allows Cloudflare to serve WebP formatted images to browsers that support it, resulting in significant file size reductions compared to JPEG, PNG, and GIF formats. The feature respects Polish's lossless and lossy modes. Performance metrics show average savings of 19% for JPEG (lossless), 47% for JPEG (lossy), 38% for PNG, and 16% for GIF when using WebP conversion.
