Benchmarking Edge Network Performance: Akamai, Cloudflare, Amazon CloudFront, Fastly, and Google

This post introduces a detailed benchmarking experiment using Real User Measurement (RUM) data to compare Cloudflare's network performance against key competitors (Akamai, Amazon CloudFront, Fastly, Google). It outlines the methodology, including the use of the Resource Timing API and measurement of TCP connection time, TTFB, and TTLB across approximately 21,000 ASNs. The results demonstrate Cloudflare's leading performance in most global network segments and metrics, highlighting the company's commitment to continuous optimization and data-driven improvement of its global network.
