Cloudflare Passes 250 Cities, Triples External Network Capacity, 8x-es Backbone

This post announces the expansion of Cloudflare's global network to over 250 cities, including 17 new cities outside mainland China and 37 cities in mainland China via a partnership with JD Cloud. It also details a 3.5x increase in external network capacity since early 2020, with 70% of this capacity being direct interconnects (PNIs/CNIs) or peering. Furthermore, the internal long-haul backbone network capacity has increased by over 800% since the start of 2020, connecting data centers with dedicated fiber and wavelength capacity. The post highlights the performance benefits of this expansion, such as reduced latency and improved connection times, and emphasizes the security advantages of keeping traffic on-network.
