How Orpheus automatically routes around bad Internet weather

This post details the Orpheus system, which identifies Internet connectivity outages beyond Cloudflare's network in real time and leverages Cloudflare's global network to find alternative paths around these outages. It explains how Orpheus reduces 522 errors by ensuring origin reachability even when direct BGP routes fail or are compromised, and how it reuses components of Argo Smart Routing's control plane to provide failover paths. The post highlights Orpheus's impact, saving billions of requests and preventing numerous incidents.
