Introducing context-aware vulnerability discovery and remediation with Cloudflare Managed Defense and OpenAI Daybreak Models

This post introduces Vulnerability Discovery and Remediation (VDR), a new service that leverages OpenAI Daybreak models (GPT-5.6 Cyber) and Cloudflare's existing infrastructure (Web Assets, WAF, Workers Observability) to detect and mitigate vulnerabilities in customer codebases. The core technical contribution is the integration of AI-driven vulnerability analysis with production traffic and security context for evidence-based prioritization and automated mitigation suggestions (code patches and WAF rules). The process involves a 'vulnerability harness' that uses reconnaissance agents to map code paths, hunter agents to find vulnerabilities, and validation stages to check proposed solutions. The system prioritizes vulnerabilities based on production exposure (traffic volume, security events) and provides context-aware WAF rules and code patches for customer review. The AI models run on OpenAI's servers, with prompts and responses processed by Cloudflare's harness, ensuring customer data privacy and control.
