This post introduces Opportunistic Encryption, a new capability that allows non-HTTPS websites to leverage the performance benefits of HTTP/2 by establishing an encrypted connection. It addresses the challenge of mixed content that prevents full HTTPS migration and provides a security layer by encrypting traffic between the browser and Cloudflare, even if the origin server is not fully secured. This extends the reach of HTTP/2 performance improvements to a wider range of websites.
