Introducing Confluent Platform 8.2: Queues for Kafka & Flink SQL

This post introduces Queues for Kafka, a new feature in Confluent Platform 8.2, providing native queue semantics on Apache Kafka with elastic consumer scaling and per-message acknowledgment. It also announces the General Availability (GA) of Flink SQL in Confluent Platform for Apache Flink®, enabling declarative stream management with DDLs, changelogs, and shared compute pools. Ease-of-use enhancements for Flink include multi-Kubernetes cluster support, a new savepoint management UI, and native support for RHEL 10 and OpenShift. Confluent Private Cloud Gateway 1.2 adds intelligent fencing and unfencing for migration and failover, SCRAM auth swapping, and expanded non-Java client support.
