This post details the co-development of an AI-powered setup-recommendation tool for JOTA's motorsports engineering team. The tool uses active learning to identify the most informative car setups to test on a seven-post rig, aiming to maximize information gain within limited testing time. It models the car's performance response to setup changes based on historical data, highlighting areas of confidence and uncertainty. The tool surfaces potential setups, with engineers making the final decisions. A trackside application for damping adjustments is also under development.
