Datadog contributed to the kube-state-metrics (KSM) project by refactoring its metric collection process. This involved improving the efficiency of the KSM Builder and its underlying stores, leading to a 15x reduction in metrics collection duration and enabling the collection of more granular data at scale. The changes were aimed at addressing challenges in scaling KSM for large Kubernetes environments.
