How We Moved Discord Voice to the Edge

Discord migrated its voice and video traffic to Cloudflare's edge network, moving from ~30 global data centers to over 300 edge locations. This involved building infrastructure to support this edge deployment and investigating quality issues in Europe. The migration resulted in 70% of regions showing year-over-year quality improvements, with Frankfurt seeing a 34% reduction in ping averages and a 42% reduction in packet loss.
