Introduces the Android XR SDK developer preview, a new platform for extended reality (XR) headsets and glasses built on existing Android foundations. It enables spatialization of apps with 3D elements and spatial audio, supports multimodal interaction (hands and eyes), and makes most existing Android apps available on Android XR. It offers the Jetpack XR SDK for Kotlin/Android Studio developers, Android XR Extensions for Unity, WebXR support for web developers, and OpenXR 1.1 for native development. New Android Studio tools include the XR Emulator and updated Layout Inspector. Unity integration starts with Unity 6 and includes new XR packages and extensions. WebXR support leverages open standards for cross-platform compatibility. The SDK is built on OpenXR 1.1 and expands it with vendor extensions for hand mesh, depth textures, light estimation, and new trackables. It also supports glTF 2.0 and OpenEXR formats.
