Project IDX has been updated to beta, removing the waitlist and offering up to 5 workspaces for Google Developer Program members. Gemini models are now deeply integrated into IDX for AI-assisted coding, including improved code completion and contextual chat. New slash commands like '/fixError' and '/addComments' streamline workflows. Experimental interactive chat allows Gemini to take direct actions on project files after user review. Seamless integration with Google services like Gemini API, Firebase Hosting, Google Maps Platform APIs, and Cloud Run is now available through a built-in panel, with automatic authentication handling. Embedded Chrome DevTools Console and Lighthouse are available for debugging web applications. New project templates have been added, including Google Maps Platform + Gemini, Google Maps Platform + React, Firebase Data Connect (private preview), and Firebase Genkit. "Open in IDX" buttons are being added to Google developer documentation and playgrounds for direct project launching.
