Updates to Google Identity Services (GIS) and migration to the Credential Manager API- Google Developers Blog

This post announces the deprecation of Google Identity Services (GIS) authentication APIs on Android (One Tap sign-in, Credential Saving, Sign in with Google button, and Sign-In for Android) in favor of the new Credential Manager Jetpack library. It highlights Credential Manager's role in consolidating authentication types into a single UI, supporting passkeys, and simplifying integration with various identity providers and password managers. Smart Lock for Passwords is also being removed from the Google Play Services SDK in November 2023. Developers are strongly encouraged to migrate to Credential Manager.
