Why client SDK generation belongs in the open- Google Developers Blog

This post announces the open-sourcing of Speakeasy's OpenAPI code generation suite (under AGPLv3), which Google DeepMind partnered with to generate client SDKs for their Gemini Interactions, Agents, and Webhooks APIs. The migration involved aligning type definitions, preserving error hierarchies and streaming behavior, and integrating the generator into Google's build system. The open-sourced suite includes multi-language SDK generators (Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, C#, PHP, Ruby) with features like static typing, SSE streaming, retries, and pagination; an agent-native CLI generator; and a documentation MCP server generator. This move aims to mitigate platform risk from proprietary tooling and accelerate the development of AI-powered tools and client libraries.
