Grab has successfully implemented a Live Activity-like feature for its Android application, mirroring the functionality previously available on iOS. This involved developing a workaround for the absence of a native 'Push Token' concept on Android by using custom notifications. The implementation focuses on providing real-time order updates for Food and Mart, with a design intended for extensibility to other verticals like Express and Transport. Key technical components include a LiveActivityIntegrationManager, LiveActivityAttributes, and LiveActivityManager for handling registration, payload mapping, and rendering.
