Accelerating our Android apps with Baseline Profiles

This post details Meta's adoption and successful implementation of Android's Baseline Profiles feature to significantly enhance the performance of its Android applications. It explains the underlying ART performance considerations, the specific challenges Meta faces with large and dynamic codebases, and how Baseline Profiles, by enabling install-time optimizations like AOT compilation and app images, have addressed these issues. The post highlights that Baseline Profiles have improved critical performance metrics by up to 40% across Meta's apps, offering a more controlled and immediate optimization compared to Cloud Profiles.
