Facebook opens lab to others to validate infrastructure software

This post announces the creation of a lab space at Meta's Menlo Park headquarters specifically for vendors to test their software on open hardware. This initiative aims to address the challenge of ensuring compatibility between commercial software and customized open hardware, which is a barrier for some companies adopting open hardware strategies. The lab has already seen Canonical and Red Hat validate their software packages (MAAS, Juju, Gluster Storage, Ansible, CloudForms, OpenStack) on Facebook's open hardware components (Leopard servers, Honey Badger storage, Knox JBODs), with most software working out of the box. The goal is to accelerate industry adoption of open hardware by providing a systematic way to validate compatibility.
