Hackathon 22: Redesigning Pixelcloud

This post details the redesign of Pixelcloud, an internal image upload and commenting tool, as a hackathon project. The redesign involved a complete rebuild from scratch using XHP and other frameworks, migrating the backend to DFS3 storage from NFS, and optimizing database queries. The new design features a grid layout for images, improved search functionality (tag/user search), and enhanced image pages with view counts and trending post algorithms. These changes resulted in a significant increase in image uploads and comments.
