Introducing “6-pack”: the first open hardware modular switch

Introduced "6-pack", the first open hardware modular switch platform, designed to address the limitations of traditional networking technologies at scale. "6-pack" is a full mesh non-blocking two-stage switch with 12 independent switching elements, each capable of 1.28Tbps switching capacity. It leverages the "Wedge" switch as a building block and integrates a Linux-based OS (FBOSS). The platform uses a hybrid SDN approach with a split control plane for management and stability. It is designed for modularity, allowing for customization of radix and other configurations using common building blocks. The fabric card aggregates management networks and enables local full mesh creation. "6-pack" is in production testing and planned for contribution to the Open Compute Project.
