Using ISC Kea DHCP in our data centers

This post details Facebook's migration of its data center DHCP infrastructure from ISC dhcpd to ISC Kea. The migration was driven by the need for faster hardware bootstrapping and reduced reconfiguration times, which were problematic at scale with the old system. The team leveraged Kea's hook points to customize its behavior and developed a stateless DHCP service that dynamically fetches configuration from an inventory system, simplifying deployment and maintenance.
