New .NET Core Build Agent on Hosted Pool – Some builds may require reaction
Aug 18, 2016Chris Patterson (MSFT)

Summary
This post announces the rollout of a new .NET Core-based build agent to the hosted pool on VSTS. This agent is open-source and provides feature parity across supported platforms. A key change is the reversion to using server workspaces for TFVC-based repositories to improve stability and scale, addressing issues encountered with local workspaces in the previous agent. Builds that modify checked-in files without marking them as editable will now encounter errors and require explicit marking using 'attrib -r <filename>' before modification.
