Solve three easy algorithm problems
Algorithmic Tasks: Merge Sorted Lists, Max Stock Profit, Validate Parentheses
You are presented with three independent algorithmic tasks. For each task, you are required to explain your approach thoroughly; actual code implementation is not necessary.
1) Merge Two Sorted Lists
Given two sorted integer arrays, A and B, both in non-decreasing order, merge them into a single sorted array containing all elements from both inputs.
- Input: Two arrays,
AandB. - Output: A single merged sorted array.
- Constraints:
0 <= len(A), len(B) <= 1e5
2) Max Profit from One Stock Transaction
Given an array prices, where prices[i] represents the stock price on day i, compute the maximum profit achievable. You may choose to buy the stock on at most one day and sell it on a later day. If no profit can be made (i.e., prices only decrease or stay flat), return 0.
- Input: An array
prices. - Output: An integer representing the maximum profit.
- Constraints:
1 <= n <= 1e5,0 <= prices[i] <= 1e9
3) Validate Parentheses Pairing
Given a string s consisting only of the characters '(', ')', '[', ']', '{', and '}', determine if the parentheses and brackets are valid.
A string is considered valid if:
-
Every opening bracket has a corresponding closing bracket of the same type.
-
Brackets are closed in the correct order.
-
Input: A string
s. -
Output: A boolean value (
trueif valid,falseotherwise). -
Constraints:
0 <= |s| <= 1e5

Core dilemma
The central dilemma is to demonstrate a solid grasp of fundamental data structures and algorithms, optimal complexity analysis, and clear communication for multiple distinct problems, even when they appear 'easy'. The focus is on the candidate's analytical rigor and ability to articulate efficient solutions and edge cases without writing code.
