Legora migrated its search system from a shared cluster to a project-scoped storage model, where each project is treated as a distinct namespace. This approach allows for independent encryption keys and data isolation per project, addressing enterprise demands for physical isolation and key revocation. Idle projects are moved to object storage. The system also disabled SSD caching for improved security and performance predictability in regulated environments. The migration involved addressing cache thrashing issues caused by sharding document chunks across partitions, leading to a redesign where projects became the unit of storage.
