This post introduces Elorian's approach to enhancing AI models' visual reasoning and grounding capabilities, moving beyond pattern matching to address limitations in counting, spatial understanding, and state tracking in complex visual tasks. The proposed solution involves creating novel visual reasoning datasets, a synthetic data flywheel for evaluation and training (agents, SFT, RL), architectural modifications to transformers, and a native visual chain-of-thought mechanism. This aims to improve AI performance in domains like robotics, construction, and mechanical design where understanding blueprints, CAD, and dynamic environments is critical.
