Building a real-time PWA on Atlassian's own stack

This post details the architecture and engineering challenges of building the Unleash Event PWA. It highlights the use of Jira Cloud as the system of record, a thin stateless service for elevated privileges, and Jira Automation for scheduled jobs. Key engineering challenges addressed include modeling event data in Jira, designing for eventual consistency with a state machine and durable local outbox, supporting push notifications via Jira workflows, gamifying the leaderboard with a split read/write model, and initial performance optimizations based on HAR files and Chrome Performance traces. The post also introduces the concept of 'readiness as a state machine' and 'capturing user intent with a durable local outbox' with simplified code examples.
