Summary
The Athenian Project provided free Enterprise-level service to over 100 US state and local government election websites, protecting them from DDoS attacks, SQL injection, and other threats. The project observed significant traffic spikes on election day due to legitimate user engagement, demonstrating the value of Cloudflare's CDN in managing unpredictable traffic. The WAF successfully blocked various internet-wide attacks targeting known vulnerabilities. Future plans include encouraging SSL adoption and encryption.
