Dynamically optimize, clip, and resize video from any origin with Media Transformations

This post introduces Media Transformations, a new service that extends Cloudflare's existing Image Transformations capabilities to short-form video files. It allows for dynamic optimization, clipping, and resizing of MP4 videos fetched directly from origin storage (e.g., R2, S3). Key features include URL-based transformations with options for mode (video, frame, spritesheet), time, duration, fit, height, width, and audio removal. The service leverages the same On-the-Fly Encoder (OTFE) platform as Stream Live. Input limits are initially set at 40MB for MP4 h.264 encoded files. Transformations are cached, but original content is not cached during beta. Pricing will be per second of output video for video transformations and per frame for image transformations, with a free tier and a monthly cost of $0.50 per 1,000 unique operations.
