Introducing Specs: Markdown as a medium
Oct 15, 2026Luke Zhang, Johnny Dallas, Aosheng Ran

Summary
This post introduces 'Specs', a new capability that allows Markdown files to be treated as collaborative documents within the Figma canvas. Specs can embed Figma elements (FigJam files, frames, nodes) and integrate with external data sources via connectors (e.g., GitHub, Hex). The Figma agent can interact with Specs by reading, writing comments, and generating content based on them. This enables a more integrated workflow between written specifications, design artifacts, and code generation, particularly for agentic workflows.
