This post details the validation of a redesign for GitLab's group and project settings pages. The redesign focused on improving information architecture and content prioritization by applying the 80/20 principle, making section labels more descriptive, and making titles clickable. The validation was performed using click tests on Usability Hub, comparing the original design with the redesigned version. The results showed improvements in the percentage of correct answers and user confidence, and a decrease in perceived difficulty, although task completion time increased for some tasks. Three out of four initial assumptions were validated, leading to the conclusion that the redesign was successful and would be applied to other settings pages.
