This post introduces the Genkit middleware system, a new capability for intercepting and extending generation calls in agentic applications. It details the three layers of middleware hooks (Generate, Model, Tool) and provides examples of pre-built middleware for retry, fallback, tool approval, skills injection, and filesystem access.
