2Africa Pearls subsea cable connects Africa, Europe, and Asia to bring affordable, high-speed internet to 3 billion people

This post announces the expansion of the 2Africa subsea cable system with the addition of the 2Africa Pearls segment. This extension significantly increases the total length of the cable system to over 45,000 kilometers, making it the longest ever deployed. The Pearls branch adds new landing locations in Oman, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Pakistan, India, and Saudi Arabia. The combined 2Africa system will now provide connectivity to 3 billion people, a substantial increase from the initial goal of 1.2 billion, and will interconnect 33 countries across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. This investment aims to bring affordable, high-speed internet to a larger population, particularly in Africa, which is currently the least connected continent.
