This post details advancements in wireless data transfer records (36 Gbps over 13 km with millimeter-wave, 80 Gbps with optical cross-link) and ground-to-air data transfer (16 Gbps) by the Connectivity Lab. It also introduces the Tether-tenna for emergency connectivity and new Surround 360 camera designs (x24, x6) with six-degrees-of-freedom. The 360 Capture SDK is released to simplify VR experience capture and sharing. Improvements in 360 video encoding include a gravitational view-prediction model and content-dependent streaming. Caffe2, a deep learning framework, is open-sourced to facilitate AI development and training.
