Open-sourcing Magma to extend mobile networks

This post announces the open-sourcing of Magma, a software platform designed to help operators deploy mobile networks quickly and easily. Magma provides a software-centric distributed mobile packet core and tools for automating network management. It is intended to extend existing network topologies to rural deployments, private LTE networks, or wireless enterprise deployments, enabling new network archetypes with fast, incremental upgrade cycles and continuous software integration. Magma simplifies network operations through automation of element configuration, software updates, and device provisioning, making LTE deployment as simple as WiFi access point deployment. It works with existing LTE base stations and can federate with traditional mobile cores.
