Azure Pipelines Service Containers

1 post · Jan 2019

What this trail covers

Azure Pipelines supports running pipeline jobs within custom Docker containers and has expanded this to include 'service containers'. Service containers are additional, helper containers that are automatically managed (started, stopped, networked) by Azure Pipelines and made accessible to the main pipeline job. This simplifies the setup and teardown of dependencies like databases or caches for integration tests, allowing developers to define required services, containerize them, and have them automatically available during pipeline execution. This feature supports various scenarios, including basic service availability and matrix-based testing against multiple versions of a service (e.g., different database backends).
