Team Services notifications have been significantly improved for scale, performance, and extensibility. This includes a better configuration UI for users and administrators, new delivery options for team subscriptions (direct email or team-member-specific), and opt-in 'out-of-the-box' notifications for common events like work item assignments and pull request updates. The integration with Microsoft Teams allows users to stay up to date with alerts for work items, pull requests, commits, and builds. This post reports a known issue with alerts in Team Foundation Server 2012 Update 3 RC1 where some alert subscription evaluations fail with an XPathException, leading to the incorrect deletion of valid subscriptions. A workaround is provided to prevent further deletions by skipping the evaluation exception, and a fix is available in Update 3 RC2.
