The Visual Studio Test Platform has been open-sourced under the MIT license to foster collaborative innovation. This move aims to enable the community of adapter writers, test framework writers, extension writers, and application developers to define and shape the evolution of the platform. This open-sourcing is part of a larger effort to modernize the test platform, including the evolution of MSTest V2, support for .NET Core, and parallel test execution. Visual Studio 2015 Update 1 introduces support for running JavaScript unit tests using frameworks like QUnit and Jasmine via the Chutzpah test runner and its Visual Studio adapter, enabling these tests to be executed on Team Foundation Service hosted build agents.
