Thinking of State in a World of URLs
Aug 1, 2017Josh Blaney

Summary
This post introduces Redux-Location-State (RLS), a new Redux middleware. RLS tracks designated pieces of state and reflects them in the URL, and vice-versa. It allows developers to declare which state parts are URL-bound and their types, and maps them to specific URLs. The middleware handles initial state loading and URL cleanup when state is in its initial configuration. It was built to address the challenge of maintaining a single source of truth between the Redux store and the user-facing URL, especially with the advent of React and Redux.
