All AI Engineer trails

Oct 2026Building AIE: Open Q&A and Feedback Session with swyxThis post details an open Q&A session with swyx, co-founder of AI Engineer, at the 2026 World's Fair. It covers attendee feedback on various aspects of the conference, including the AI safety track, expo length, workshop capacity, Wi-Fi, and the conference app. swyx also discusses plans for future AI Engineer events, including the World's Fair, a finance-focused New York event, and a partner model for global events. Additionally, it provides guidance on starting and running local AI Engineer meetups and explains the process for speaker selection from a large pool of applications, as well as the introduction of academic poster sessions.
Oct 2026An AI Future Without the Lock-In — Remy Guercio, TailscaleThis talk, presented by Remy Guercio from Tailscale, addresses the growing issue of AI lock-in and the need for demonstrable ROI in AI deployments. It breaks down an AI stack into four layers: models, data connectors (MCP), CLIs/APIs, and the interface/sandbox. The core contribution is the concept of an AI gateway, exemplified by Tailscale's Aperture, which acts as a central point for managing identity (via Tailscale network), budgets per model, and logging. Aperture functions as both an LLM and MCP gateway, consolidating authentication for various tools and providing a unified log for diagnostics, thereby enabling swappability of underlying AI models and services.
Oct 2026How a Remote Company Builds AI Fluency — Em Shreve, AutomatticThis talk by Em Shreve, Head of AI Enablement at Automattic, details a strategy for building AI fluency within a large, fully remote company. The core of the strategy is a two-week, in-person program that combines workshops on AI skills, MCPs (Multi-Cloud Platforms), hooks, and autonomous agents with hands-on project work. The program emphasizes dedicated learning time over just tool access. Graduates are empowered as multipliers through guides, local meetups, AI ride-alongs, and an always-on help channel. The talk also touches on curriculum evolution, an internal MCP server, and metrics for measuring AI adoption and impact, showcasing projects built by various teams, including non-engineers.
