This post details advancements in wafer-scale manufacturing yield and defect tolerance. Cerebras achieves high yields for its wafer-scale processors by implementing advanced defect tolerance mechanisms. Key to this is the design of extremely small, fault-tolerant AI cores, approximately 100x smaller in affected silicon area per defect than traditional GPU cores. This, combined with a sophisticated, dynamically reconfigurable routing architecture, allows the system to route around defects and utilize 93% of silicon area, higher than leading GPUs.
