Hemut: Building the Internet of Freight on Real-Time Data
Aug 27, 2026Tim Graczewski

Summary
Hemut built its AI-native operating system for trucking on Confluent Cloud, establishing a real-time data foundation that supports its entire platform. The system has processed over 286 million events without loss, with position updates moving through the platform in approximately one-tenth of a second. Confluent's Schema Registry enforced data contracts during telematics provider onboarding and data format evolution, ensuring zero downtime and no breaking changes for downstream consumers. The use of Flink for stream processing on this foundation enables AI model retraining on historical data and real-time application development.
