Hex has evolved its notebook and data app capabilities by introducing a reactive compute engine. This engine models projects as Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs), where each cell's re-execution is triggered only by upstream dependencies. This enhances reproducibility, performance, and interpretability by eliminating the state-related frustrations of traditional notebooks. The system automatically infers dependency relationships between Python and SQL cells, allowing for efficient re-computation of only the necessary downstream logic.
