Application Insights: Choose your own Performance Counters

This post introduces the ability to collect any Windows performance counters (standard or custom) within Application Insights for web applications using SDK version 0.14 or higher. It details how to configure these counters in `ApplicationInsights.config` or in code, how they are reported as custom metrics (with options for naming and segmentation), how to view them in Metric Explorer alongside other metrics, set up alerts on them, and provides diagnostic information for troubleshooting. It also lists default performance counters collected by Application Insights.
