Application Insights tools for Visual Studio included in Visual Studio 2013 Update 3 RC

This post announces that Visual Studio 2013 Update 3 Release Candidate will provision an Application Insights resource directly in an Azure subscription, moving away from the previous method of creating Application Insights Applications within a Visual Studio Online account. It details the project types supported (ASP.NET Web Applications, Windows Store Applications, Windows Phone Applications) and provides instructions on how to revert to the previous behavior or enable Application Insights with the new update.
